The following works demonstrate my interest in animal bodies and queer environments, building on community-based research and collaborative assemblages made primarily from scavenged materials. My persistent focus has been on the positioning of animal bodies in visual narratives in order to explore hybridity and mixed-media as a means of dismantling other binary systems: the boundary between humans and animals, the dynamic relationship between images and words, and the burdens and possibilities of the gender binary. By combining collage and illustration, analog and digital, and anthropomorphic forms, I explore visual narrative (i.e. comics and illustration) as a space for experimentation and queer expression. The combination of words and images into hybrid, rhizomatic networks allows me to tell stories that are also queer, in-between, and always becoming.
